    Keywords are words or phrases that describe your product or service, that match what people are searching for. You choose them to help determine when and where your ads appear. Keywords are the primary method used to attract customers, and they are really the foundation of your ads campaign. It’s very important the keywords you choose are high-quality, and relevant to make sure your ads only reach the most interested people because these are the people who are most likely to become your customers.

    Having the right keywords will make or break your ad campaign, so it’s very important that we put some time into finding the right keywords right from the beginning of our process.

    Remember we discussed ad position and quality score before. Poor keyword choices make for lower ad positions and higher costs.

    Take into account what words your customers use to describe your business; it can really make a difference in search results. Speak the language of your customer. Now sometimes it is effective to use keywords that don’t yield a ton of search results, especially if there is little competition for those keywords.

    In general, the best advertising is specific.

    Each niche has its own vocabulary, the techies, the musicians, the athletes, the teenagers all describe things in different ways. And if you want to reach them, you must speak their language. If you sell business to business, you’ll need to know industry terms.
