Lesson 1.9 Notes And Tasks

  • notes

    Note Number 1

Choosing and organizing your keywords is very important to creating an effective search campaign. The Google Keyword planner is very useful, which makes sense when you consider it’s in Google’s best interest to help you create an effective campaign. They want to help. We’re going to use the Planner to evaluate keyword search volume, but before we do that we need to brainstorm some keywords. We need to think about our customers sitting in front of their computer. What are they searching for, and how would they search for it.

Think of how you can differentiate yourself. How can your messaging be different and better, more unique to your skill set or service? Do they mention their office, the services they provide, or their affiliation with a trade organization or the Better Business Bureau?

    Note Number 2

Analyze your competitor's ads so you can better write your own. Also, take into consideration whether or not your search criteria is too broad. If it were, your search would reveal irrelevant responses.

    Task Number 1

Head on over to Google, from our www.Google.com/AdWords account We’re going to use the Keyword Planner to evaluate keyword search volume and continue our research.

Choose tools from the top menu, and then Keyword Planner from the dropdown menu. The keyword tool has a few separate components to it. The first section is Find New Keywords And Get Search Volume Data. This is where we’ll spend most of our time generating keywords we can advertise for. We can choose to Search for new keywords using a phrase, website or category. Below that is an option to get search volume data and trends. This gives us historical search data we can use to plan our campaign. And then multiply keyword lists to get new keywords. This option is a tool that allows us to combine keywords lists together to generate a whole new batch of keywords. Below that is Plan your budget, which gives us the ability to get a forecast of how many clicks we might expect from certain keywords, and their expected cost. With this tool, once you upload or enter your keyword list, you can see how many clicks you might get from a certain budget.
