Lesson 3.4 Notes And Tasks

  • notes

    Note Number 1

We use AdWords for a variety of reasons including acquiring new customers, and building our brand. But whatever the reason is, it’s important to figure out if our campaign is working. It’s important to measure our return on our investment or ROI. By knowing our ROI we can decide whether or not the money we’re spending on AdWords advertising is actually meeting our advertising objectives.

    Note Number 2

By knowing our ROI we can decide whether or not the money we’re spending on AdWords advertising is actually meeting our advertising objectives. Let’s discuss what ROI is. ROI is the ratio of our net profits to our costs.

  • notes

    Task Number 1

There are many statistics to use in order to help determine efficacy, but ROI is the best one, because with one ratio we can see the real effect our effort of advertising has on our business. A negative ROI means we need to adjust our settings, expectations, or even disband the campaign. A positive ROI means we can scale up. Think about it. If we know we’re getting a positive return on $10 per day, shouldn’t we then increase it to $20 per day, or beyond?

  • notes

    Task Number 2

There are a few different ways to measure ROI, but the most common is to take your revenue, subtract the cost of goods sold, or how much it costs to produce a product, divided by cost of goods sold. Be sure you always keep an excel database of your advertisement ROI for long term tracking.
