Lesson 3.5 Notes And Tasks

    Note Number 1

If you’ve got a website and you’re setting up your AdWords account, I would highly recommend setting up and partnering Google analytics with Google AdWords. One of the most powerful attributes of AdWords is its ability to integrate analytics. At this point you may say that Google AdWords is already throwing an unworldly amount of data my way, any more and I’ll be swamped! And I completely understand your point, but you can get some very powerful metrics by integrating Analytics with AdWords.

    Note Number 2

So, why should you link AdWords with analytics? The reason is there are a lot of important questions that AdWords cannot answer on its own. AdWords wasn’t developed to be an analytical solution. Its only real responsibility is to keep track of everything that happens right up to the point someone clicks the ad. The rest is sort of beyond AdWords’ purview. These things, if you recall are things like, how many times the ad was shown, and what were the search queries? It tracks what ads were shown in response to what bid, and how much we were charged for the click.

    Task Number 1

We can either go directly to Google Analytics and sign in from there. Or, if we’re in AdWords, just go to tools, and then Google Analytics, which brings us to the same sign up page. You’ll see Google is previewing the instructions.

Step 1, they’ll need some website information.

Step 2, it will produce a tracking code we install on our website pages, then

    3. We’ll start receiving some data in a few hours. So let’s go ahead and click on sign up.
